Urban Island LLC is an independent record label, founded in 1998 by guitarist Daryl Stuermer. Perhaps best known for his live performance & global touring, Stuermer has long participated in solo projects that keep him grounded and in sync with the world music community.

Urban Island began as a production company to develop and record Stuermer's eclectic brand of music. Throughout the years the audience has been our greatest marketing tool. The Internet allows us to reach a worldwide audience. There are very few boundaries with the kind of music you discover on your own and enjoy, without the need to classify.

While the music industry consolidates and becomes more generic there's an intriguing movement underfoot. The traditional structure of the "big record label" is gradually giving way to smaller "islands" of independent music-makers.

We strive to present music with a fresh perspective that is unique and dynamic in its own right.
