Daryl Stuermer “Rewired” CD Release Party Shank Hall, Milwaukee December 29 th 2006. Let it be said that I have attended a great many Daryl Stuermer concerts over the years and have enjoyed each and every one of them, but this show might have been the best yet. Upon arrival and once inside you could feel the electricity in the air. I sensed that many people had been looking forward to this show for some time. Needless to say the band did not disappoint. They entertained like a true champion, playing two long sets that mixed in new and old material with only a fifteen minute break in between. Highlights included the playing of Determined which Daryl said hadn't been played live in fourteen years. Ying Yang Boogie which had never ever been played live before added to that special feeling. The acoustic openings on a number of tunes were so elegantly powerful that they had you at the end of your seat. Stage presence was so pronounced, and with John's drum kit left of center and front it was like you were right there drumming with him. The buzz during and throughout the show was fever pitched. They continually played with the precision of a Swiss watch. Outstanding solo's and challenges continually added fuel to the fire. They were just incredibly tight all night. Other tunes that were played that I could remember were Masala Mantra, Heavy Heart, Omni Bus, Meltdown, American Fields, Green Light, Dream In Blue, Striker, Wherever You Are and the last song of the night being Turn It On Again. Another awesome Daryl Stuermer Band show, and I will say it once more, this band is the best ticket in town when it comes to pure musical ability. Special thanks go out to Daryl, Kostia, John and Eric for once again sharing their wonderful talent with us all. And by the way the cake was incredible too. |
