Notes From Canada - September 21, 2004

Hello Everybody,

We've just said goodbye to Canada. These were 2 great shows with 2 great audiences. I have to say that Montreal was probably our best audience on the North American tour. I was told the show sold out in a couple hours. Also we could have played and sold out 2 nights and possibly even 3 nights.

Toronto is my favorite city in Canada. I have some good friends (Mike & Susan) there also, so I am probably a little bias. My friend Mike Tilka use to play bass with a famous Canadian band called " Max Webster ".

I could easily live in Toronto. It wouldn't be much of a culture shock. The weather is pretty much the same as I'm use to in Milwaukee too. Good, bad, cold, rainy, snowy, gorgeous , hot, mild, freezing, tolerable, sunny, great, terrible, ...ect! We have it all!

Here's some trivia:
My brother Duane and I moved to Windsor, Canada for a summer probably in 1972 to form a band with Mike. Although Duane is an excellent bass player & excellent singer, he and Mike were going to share the vocal & bass chair, sometimes switching off on various instruments (like guitar & keyboards). I wrote 2 instrumental songs titled, "Family At Max", and "Song For Webster". Hence the band name. Mike came up with the name!

Duane and I eventually moved back to Milwaukee due to lack of work and formed the band "Sweetbottom". "Max Webster" went on with an entirely different line up and musical direction and became quite a successful band in Canada.

Everything turned out well for everybody! Recently I heard Mike Meyers mention the "Max Webster" band on a late night talk show. Apparently he was a big fan. Things turned out pretty well for him too!

Talk to you all later!

Daryl
