Daryl Stuermer On the Road with Genesis Podcast #4: Hamburg, Germany

Hello from Geneva , Switzerland , this is Daryl Stuermer. Last night we played in Hamburg , Germany , to a very wet crowd, by the way. It was raining all night, but it was one of these stadiums where it was partially covered. Any of the seats around the sides – reserved seats – were covered by a partial roof. But in Europe , on the main floor, people have to stand.

So they come early. They sometimes come about two to two-and-a-half hours early and so they are standing there prior to the show, and then they're standing during our show, which is about two-and-a-half hours to two hours, forty-five minutes long. And because of it raining, I think they kind of bond together and they fight it together, they seem to have a great time.

Phil was extremely funny last night, and also he does something that I don't think a lot of people do. Phil will get together with an interpreter and write out phonetically things that he wants to say, and he actually has a piece of paper up there on stage and he'll read that off.

And even if he says it incorrectly, the audience appreciates the fact that he's even giving it a try. I find that really brave, and the audience loves it, so it works every time.

I'm going to sign off right now. We're going to be playing in Bern , Switzerland tomorrow, and so we're looking forward to that show as well.

Best regards to everybody, I'll talk to you later.
